STOP Shirts: The Oppression Series
Occasionally, we feature products designed by other folks. Check out these “STOP SHIRTS,” designed by Bruce Robert Hare, Emeritus Professor of Sociology, Syracuse University.
“For me, the shirts visually represent oppression as a social form with specific emphasis on the ‘isms,’ as in sexism, with the blue (male) over pink (female); racism, with white (euro) over black (color); and poverty as symbolized by golden (rich) over brown (dirt poor). Each shirt asks its ‘ism’ to stop as represented by the placement within the stop symbol.”—BRH
